"Lori brought her "Moving the Story Off the Pages!" program to the Seabrook Library today. We had a full crowd of children aged 18 months to 5 years old-quite the range to keep engaged! Lori started quietly with a story then swept the kids off their feet and into warm-ups. Soon they were racing back and forth, leaping "rivers", shaking and swirling, galloping, nodding, crawling, and rolling. One of the parents told me, "She's wearing me out just watching her!" The children kept pace, however, squealing with delight, huge smiles everywhere. Whenever it looked like there might be children starting to lose motivation, Lori would leap into another activity and they were all off again. I don't think they were still except during the beginning story and at the end under the parachute for "Twinkle twinkle little star". Several parents expressed their gratitude for getting the children movingÑsaying quite bluntly, "They really needed it!" Since several of the parents were also dealing with two children, often one was up and moving with Lori while the parent corralled the other, allowing the older child time and space to fully participate while giving the parent a slight break. I was tremendously pleased for several reasons: First, getting the children up and moving; they desperately needed the outlet and perhaps the parents will now find ways to do more at home. Second, the children themselves were engaged and participating continually; every activity was accessible and fun. Third, afterwards (this was the Literacy and Movement program), about a third of the families went straight to the children's section and started selecting books and chatting about kids, books and the program-the desired end result for any library program! Lori was a godsend for my very active group and they were thrilled to wear themselves with her! I will be recommending her to other children's librarians."- Lisa Michaud, Children's Librarian, Seabrook Library, Seabrook, NH
